On the work, Satriani states:
"These two fusion pieces (Ghost on the Hill and Hill of the Skull) started with a foreboding canvas created by the SceneFour team. It made me think of an old poem by Khalil Gibran about the crucifixion. I wrote and recorded a song about it called “Hill of the Skull” for my "Surfing With The Alien" album. The fusion of my acrylic and watercolor pieces with the newly created apocalyptic landscape brings the story to life."
